Move welds to another ISO

When welds were assigned to the wrong ISO, you can move them to the correct one. Everything on the weld travels with it — its status, inspections, and history are unchanged by the move. This guide covers moving a single weld or a batch, and the checks each move has to pass.

  • You need edit access on the project.
  • Open the source ISO — the one you’re moving welds off. The move action is available while you’re viewing a single ISO’s weld matrix.
  • Moving is a server action, so you need a connection. Only synced welds can be moved; a weld created offline that hasn’t synced yet can’t move until it does.
  • The source ISO, the destination ISO, and either one’s test package (if assigned) must not be signed.
  1. Open the source ISO’s weld matrix and select the welds to move — tick one weld or several.
  2. When at least one weld is selected, the bulk bar appears showing n selected. Choose Move welds….
  3. In the Move n welds panel, pick the Destination ISO, then select Move.

MaxTrax validates and moves the welds, and tells you how many moved.

Single or batch: each weld moves on its own

You can move one weld or many through the same panel. Each weld is checked and moved independently, so a batch can partly succeed — some welds move while others stay in place if they hit a check. Any weld that couldn’t move is listed under Could not move, by weld number, with the reason.

Each weld must pass these checks, or it’s left on the source ISO and reported:

  • Neither ISO is signed. The source ISO can’t be signed (its weld membership is frozen), and the destination ISO can’t be signed (you can’t add welds to it).
  • Neither test package is signed. If either ISO belongs to a signed test package, the weld can’t move — that would change a certified package’s membership after the fact.
  • The weld number is free on the destination. If a weld with the same number is already active on the destination ISO, the incoming weld collides and is left in place.

Moving a weld onto the ISO it’s already on does nothing.

Moved welds now belong to the destination ISO — they appear in its weld matrix, and the source ISO no longer lists them. The move doesn’t touch a weld’s status or its inspection record.
