Change your password

You can change your own password at any time from Change password (/settings/password) in the account menu. Use it as soon as you suspect anyone else knows your password — you don’t need to wait for an administrator.

  • You must be signed in, and you must know your current password. If you don’t, ask your MaxTrax administrator to reset it for you.
  • No special role is needed. You can only ever change your own password here — this screen has no way to act on anyone else’s account.
  1. Select your name in the top-right corner (or open the navigation drawer on a small screen) and choose Change password.
  2. Enter your Current password.
  3. Enter your New password, then repeat it in Confirm new password.
  4. Select Change password.

Your new password must meet your organization’s password policy. If it doesn’t, the screen lists the exact rules it failed — fix those and submit again. It must also be different from your current password.

A successful change disconnects every signed-in device, including the one you’re using. That is deliberate: if someone else had your password, they may also have a signed-in session, and ending every session is what actually removes their access.

Select Sign out and sign in again, then sign in with your new password. Sign in again on your other devices too — phones and tablets included.

If this device has work that hasn’t reached the server yet, MaxTrax asks you to confirm before signing out, because signing out clears this device’s local copy. Sign back in on the same device first if you want that work to finish syncing.

If MaxTrax says your password was not changed, re-enter your current password carefully and try again.

For your security the message is deliberately the same whatever the reason, so it never confirms whether a guessed password was close. If several attempts in a row fail, your account locks and only an administrator can unlock it — the same protection that applies at the sign-in screen. If you have tried twice without success, contact your administrator rather than guessing again.
