Generate reports & printable labels

This guide covers generating reports and printable labels — the WeldLog toolbar button and the broader Reports catalog, plus what’s generated directly on your device from the Welds screen.

Before you start

  • Any signed-in role can do this. Generating and exporting reports isn’t restricted to a particular role — if you can see the welds, you can report on them.
  • A report shows what you can see, and nothing more. Reports are built against your own access, so a report contains the same welds, ISOs, inspections and welders your on-screen lists do. If your account is limited to certain contractors, weld types, inspection types or NDT contractors, those limits apply to the report too. Two people on the same project can therefore run the same report and get different rows — that’s expected, not a fault. Totals, counts and charts are calculated the same way, from your rows only, so a summary figure matches the detail behind it. If a report looks emptier than you expect, check with your project administrator about what your account is scoped to before assuming data is missing.
  • A connection, for server-rendered reports. WeldLog and every report in the Catalog tab render on the server, so generating one needs a connection. Weld and ISO detail PDFs, labels, and the grid export are generated on your device and work offline.

Generate a WeldLog report

  1. Open Welds and select Generate WeldLog from the toolbar.
  2. MaxTrax queues the report and shows a Generating WeldLog… notice while it renders on the server.
  3. When it’s ready, the notice updates to WeldLog ready with a Download PDF button. If something goes wrong, you’ll see a failure notice instead — try again.

Keep the tab open (or come back to it) while the report renders; you don’t need to stay on the Welds screen specifically.

Download a weld or ISO detail PDF

From a weld’s row actions, Download weld detail PDF generates a one-weld summary instantly, from the data already on your device — it works offline and needs no round trip to the server.

Find and run a report from the catalog

Every report MaxTrax can generate — not just WeldLog — has an entry in the Reports screen’s Catalog tab, which you can generate on demand from there:

  1. Open Reports and stay on the Catalog tab (it’s the default).
  2. Use the Search reports box to find a report by name or by a common alternate term — for example, searching “RT log” finds the radiograph-related report even though neither word is in its title.
  3. Narrow the list with the category, kind, and format chips above the list — select multiple chips in one row to broaden within that row, or combine chips across rows to narrow further (for example, Welding plus diagnostic).
  4. Select the About icon on a report’s row for a short description of what it contains, before you commit to running it.
  5. Select the report to open its criteria drawer, set your filters, and generate it — the same generate-and-download flow as WeldLog, described above.

Pin a report you run often — its card moves to a Pinned section at the top with a one-click Run button that reuses your last criteria.

From a weld’s row actions, open the label menu for Download Label (small), Download Label (large), Print Label (small), or Print Label (large). Each label is generated on your device and includes the ISO number alongside a QR code, in two sizes for different tagging needs — useful for marking spools, binders, or physical records with a scannable reference alongside the printed ISO number.

What happens next

  • WeldLog and detail PDFs reflect the data at the moment you generated them — regenerate if the underlying weld or ISO changes and you need an up-to-date copy.
  • Most of MaxTrax’s other server-side reports (activity, continuity, completion, and others) are reachable on demand from the Reports screen’s Catalog tab — see Find and run a report from the catalog above. A report can also be scheduled for recurring email delivery instead — see Scheduled reports and the report catalog for the complete list.
