Welding procedures (WPS)
The Procedures page is the welding-procedure-specification (WPS) catalog — a tenant-wide reference, not tied to any one project. This page covers the procedure detail view: its header and steps, the immutable revision history, and how to record a new revision.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Anyone signed in can view a procedure’s detail and its revision history. Recording a new revision needs Corporate Administrator access — a below-floor viewer sees the same header and history, just no Revise button.
Open a procedure
Section titled “Open a procedure”Select Procedures from the navigation to see the catalog, searchable by code or label. Each row also shows a Facility cue — the facility that owns the procedure, or Shared for a tenant-wide one available everywhere (only tenants using the facility feature see anything but Shared). Select a row to open its detail: code, label, current revision, wall-thickness range, materials, pre/post heat, charpy, its ordered steps (process, filler material, and wall-thickness range per step), and the same Facility/Shared cue shown in the header.
Revision history
Section titled “Revision history”Every procedure keeps an immutable, append-only revision history, shown newest first. Each row records the revision number, its label, the date it took effect, when it was recorded, and — once a revision names a welding-code citation — a citation chip; a revision with no citation reads Uncited. Nothing on this list can be edited or deleted after the fact — a correction is always a new revision, never an edit to an old one.
The history does not show what changed between two revisions field-by-field — it’s a ledger of when and under what label a revision took effect, not a diff.
Revise a procedure
Section titled “Revise a procedure”Select Revise and enter a new revision label — it must differ from the current one, since that’s what tells the system a real revision happened. Everything else about the procedure (its steps, wall-thickness range, materials, heat treatment, charpy) carries forward unchanged; Revise does not open a full edit of every field. The same optional Cited code edition field used when recording an inspection result is here too — search and pick the code and edition (and, optionally, a clause/table) the new revision is issued under, or leave it blank; nothing is filled in for you. Confirm to save: the new revision appears at the top of the history — carrying its citation chip, if you picked one — and the header’s Current revision updates.
Revising needs a connection — it isn’t queued for later like some field actions. If two people revise the same procedure at the same moment, the second submission is asked to reload the latest revision and try again rather than silently overwriting the first. If the code edition you picked isn’t in the register, saving is refused with an inline message naming the rejected citation, and your revision label is kept so you don’t have to retype it.
